Nebulizers

In simple terms, nebulizers use air compression systems to deliver streams of air to a patient who cannot use an inhaler. Examples of those who would not normally be able to use an inhaler are very young children and patients who are very ill. The nebulizer can also carry on this air stream certain medications which the patient breathes in as he or she breathes in the stream of forced air.

One of the most commonly used types is the portable nebulizer that is often small enough to put into a handbag. Portable nebulizers allow patients to travel easily and comfortably.

Of interest to those who need it, the Xopenex continuous nebulizer can be very useful in medication delivery. This is also true with the ultrasonic nebulizer types which can deliver very small particles on the air stream.

Also important to some people who care for animals are the animal nebulizers, most notably the equine nebulizer which is used in the treatment of horses. These systems have many uses including helping to clear airways and reducing the amount of mucus a horse may have when it is ill.

If you do a bit of shopping online you can often find discounts on nebulizers. Do, however, make sure that the nebulizer machine that you find is appropriate for your condition and for your needs. It is also a good idea to make sure that you will be able to get the additional supplies that you may need for the particular nebulizer that you are looking into. This might include such things as nebulizer masks or mouthpieces or tubes in both plastic and glass. Nebulizer capillaries should also be looked into when you are doing your search.

As mentioned above, you can find nebulizers in portable form, but you may also want to look into the bigger models if your needs require that you have a more robust system or if you need a jet nebulizer. Again, it is always a good idea to make sure that you will be able to buy the additional items that you will need, preferably through the same company.

If your primary health care provider is planning to have you add medication to your nebulizer he or she is best suited to help you pick out the proper device for your individual needs and medical requirements.
