Baby Eczema

Baby eczema can be heartbreaking for parents and other family members. No one wants to see a baby suffer, but infant eczema is a fact. It does occur in many babies and it is up to the parents and the health care providers to make the infant’s life as comfortable as possible during flair ups.

Eczema in babies more often than not runs in families. This is a case of good news bad news. The good news, if you want to call it that, is that past family members who may have had the problem themselves, may know of reliable treatments that worked for them. This gives the family a head start. The bad news is that what worked for grandmother may not work for the new baby.

It should be remembered that baby eczema and clothing choices go hand in hand. You do not want to put baby into harsh or overly hot clothing when the symptoms flair up. In many cases, baby acne and eczema flair up at the same time. This is also true with baby eczema & lupus.

Eczema in baby ages can often be treated with gentle creams and lotions. Many health care providers can give you a good list of the infant eczema treatment options that work best for children of younger ages. Whenever possible, you must follow your doctor’s orders in this regard. Many parents seem to want to try many different lotions and products on their babies, but this can be dangerous if the products contain certain ingredients such as cortisone. This does not mean that cortisone should never be used, but it does mean that your doctor should be the one to make that determination.

One simple thing that parents can do to help their health care provider is to have baby eczema pictures on treatment products. What this means is that when symptoms flair up on the baby, take a picture of the area. Then do the same after the baby eczema treatment has been applied. A baby eczema picture can tell your doctor much more than you may be able to share in words.

It is important to be very careful with infant eczema on face areas and with eczema on baby head areas. The reason for this is that these areas can easily be reached by just about any aged baby. He or she may get the treatment product on fingers and then the fingers go into the mouth. The idea, of course, in treating allergy eczema in infant cases is to heal them not to make them sicker.
